Cases, with the baseline shown.
- Written baseline
- Like-for-like scope
- Client permission in writing
- Anonymised by a Strategy Partner
In short
strategy1 publishes a strategy consulting case study only when it clears six gates: a written specialist baseline, like-for-like scope, written acceptance, reconciled figures, the client's written permission and an anonymisation pass by a Strategy Partner. Each case shows the problem, the baseline, what was delivered, who validated it, its Compression Index and its limits.

- How the index is worked
- The engine's headline deliverable, measured against an independent specialist's written estimate for the same scope, in working hours.
- Limit
- A blueprint is not bankable engineering. Licensed engineers still carry yield, grid, geotechnical and protection design.
No published case yet
Our first AssetEngine case is being documented with its baseline. It will be published with the client's permission.

Who estimated (their discipline), what scope, how long, and when it was written. Linked to the anonymised baseline document.

Publication gates
Six gates before a case is published
- 01
Written baseline, before work starts
An independent specialist estimates the same scope in writing, before we begin. We store it with the case evidence. No baseline, no index.
- 02
Like-for-like scope
Same scope, same acceptance criteria. If the specialist's estimate covered more than we delivered, we cut the baseline to match, or we do not publish an index.
- 03
Accepted in writing
The client or the specialist accepted the deliverable, and the acceptance is on record. Work the client has not accepted does not count.
- 04
Figures reconciled
Every figure in the case is checked against the case files and against the others, and cites its source and date. A figure that does not reconcile holds the case back.
- 05
Client's written permission
No case, and no client-identifying detail, without the client's written permission to publish.
- 06
Anonymisation pass by a Strategy Partner
A Strategy Partner reviews the anonymised case before it is published.
What anonymisation removes
- Names
- Figures that identify the client
- Locations finer than state level
- Document headers and logos in artefact images
A quote appears only with the person's name and written permission. Corrections are public: a dated correction note on the case.
Compression Index
How the index on each case is calculated
Definition
Compression Index =
independent specialist baseline (working hours)
strategy1 time (working hours)
An index of 5 means we took a fifth of the time the specialist estimated. That is an illustration of the arithmetic, not a target or a result.
Our time, all of it
Agent runs, strategist work, human review and Domain Fellow sign-off all count, from kick-off to the accepted deliverable.
Waiting time
Time spent waiting for the client is excluded on both sides or on neither.
Working days
Calendar estimates are converted to working hours at 8 hours a working day, and we show the conversion.
Reporting
Per engagement first. Then the median per engine and per quarter, with the number of cases behind every median. Outliers are shown, not trimmed.
