The Engine Sprint

One engine, at full depth. A complete deliverable, red-teamed and signed off, with your Bootcamp fee credited.

In short

What is an Engine Sprint?

An Engine Sprint is a 1–3 week, fixed-fee strategy sprint from strategy1 that runs one engine at full depth. It delivers the engine's core output, such as a launch playbook or an investment thesis, with a red-team report, an evidence extract and a decision memo signed by a Strategy Partner and, where needed, a Domain Fellow.

What you get

Four deliverables, one decision

  1. 01

The engine’s core deliverableFor example, a launch playbook with a 90-day calendar and KPI tree, or a brand platform and architecture.

  2. 02

A red-team reportHow the plan fails, and the conditions that would trigger it.

  3. 03

An evidence extractThe sources behind every figure, with their grades.

  4. 04

A signed decision memoApproved by your Council, signed by our Strategy Partner and, where needed, a Domain Fellow.

Staged actions are written to your systems only after your named owner accepts them.

How it runs

How a Sprint runs

  • Kick-off: we agree the engine and the decision frame, and write down your baseline.
  • Several runs: options first, then re-runs after Council feedback.
  • A Domain Fellow: is attached to the Sprint from the start.
  • Close: KPIs are set against the decision, with a proposal for a 90-day KPI review.

Before you start

Who a Sprint suits

Who it suits

  • Teams with one decision to take to full depth: a launch, a brand, an investment strategy or an event.
  • Clients coming from a Bootcamp. The starter Twin carries over and the Bootcamp fee is credited.
  • Leaders who want the plan red-teamed and signed before they commit to it.

What we need from you

  • An NDA and data-processing terms, signed before kick-off.
  • Your baseline: how long your team or a specialist would take, written down at kick-off.
  • A sponsor who owns the decision, and a Council that gives feedback between runs and approves the memo.
  • Read-only access to the documents the decision needs.
  • A named owner for each staged action, who accepts it before anything is written to your systems.

Next step

When the decision holds, keep the Twin running.

Most clients start a Strategy Twin retainer after a Sprint, when the Twin is already built: a living Twin, a monthly Strategy Council and engine credits.

FAQ

Before you start a Sprint

What does a Sprint cost?

It is a fixed fee for a fixed scope, never hours, and exclusive of GST. If you come from a Bootcamp, that fee is credited to the Sprint. Request the price sheet

How long does a Sprint take?

1–3 weeks. The engine and the decision frame are agreed at kick-off, together with your baseline.

Who signs the decision memo?

Your Council approves it. Our Strategy Partner signs it and, where liability exists, a Domain Fellow signs the parts they reviewed.

Will you write to our systems?

Only after your named owner accepts each staged action. Nothing is written without that approval.

What if the answer is “don’t do it”?

Then the memo says so, with the evidence. A red-teamed “no” is a result.

What do you get at the end of an Engine Sprint?

Four deliverables for one decision: the engine's core deliverable, such as a launch playbook with a 90-day calendar and KPI tree; a red-team report on how the plan fails; an evidence extract with the sources behind every figure; and a decision memo approved by your Council and signed by our Strategy Partner.

Which engine should a Sprint use?

The one closest to your decision. A Sprint runs one of the 8 strategy1 engines at full depth: LaunchEngine, BrandEngine, CapitalEngine, EventEngine, AssetEngine, DealEngine, MarketEngine or ScenarioEngine. If you are not sure which fits, the free Readiness Scan suggests an entry engine. Compare the 8 strategy engines

Coming from a Bootcamp?

Your starter Twin carries over and your Bootcamp fee is credited to the Sprint.
