The outcome-linked mandate

For some decisions, we tie part of our fee to the result. The KPIs, their baselines and the way they are measured are agreed and signed before work starts.

In short

What is an outcome-linked mandate?

An outcome-linked mandate is strategy1's form of outcome-based consulting: part of the fee is tied to agreed launch, savings or event KPIs, measured in your own systems against a baseline, target, date and method signed before work starts. It is set per mandate and never offered for fund-raising, listing or securities work.

Where it applies

Tied to launch, savings or event KPIs

  • 01

    Launch

    KPIs from your launch plan.

  • 02

    Savings

Cost reductions measured in your finance systems.

  • 03

    Events

Event KPIs, measured from your event and sales records.

Exclusion

Outcome-linked fees are not offered for fund-raising, listing or other securities transactions. Capital work is always fixed fee.

How results are measured

  1. 01

Each KPI is defined up front — a baseline, a target, a date, the system it is measured in, and a signed measurement method.

  2. 02

Only your own system data counts — grade A evidence from your CRM, ERP or ticketing system.

  3. 03

Each measurement is sealed — a snapshot is hash-sealed on every measurement date.

  4. 04

Disagreements are logged — a dispute log is kept from day one.

We read outcome data through read-only connections. Drift is flagged early so it can be acted on.

Before you start

Who a mandate suits

Who it suits

  • Clients who already have a Twin with us.
  • Decisions with launch, savings or event KPIs that can be measured in your own systems.
  • Work that follows a Sprint or a retainer, and converts to a retainer at its end.

What we need from you

  • KPIs that can be measured in your own CRM, ERP or ticketing system.
  • A baseline, a target, a date and a signed measurement method for each KPI, agreed before work starts.
  • Read-only connections to the systems the KPIs are measured in.

Next step

At its end, a mandate becomes a retainer.

When the mandate closes, it converts to a Strategy Twin retainer: your KPIs keep coming into the Twin, with a Strategy Council every month.

FAQ

About mandates

Can part of the fee be tied to a fund-raising or a listing?

No. Outcome-linked fees are not offered for fund-raising, listing or other securities transactions. Capital work is always fixed fee.

How is the fee set?

By discussion, for each mandate. Part of the fee is tied to agreed KPIs. The structure and amounts are not published, and fees are exclusive of GST.

Whose data decides the result?

Only your own system data counts: evidence from your CRM, ERP or ticketing system, read through read-only connections.

What if we disagree on a measurement?

It is recorded in the dispute log, which is kept from day one. Each measurement is a snapshot, hash-sealed on its measurement date.

Can we start with a mandate?

A mandate needs a Twin with us and KPIs that can be measured in your own systems, so it usually follows a Sprint or a retainer.

Which KPIs can the fee be tied to?

Launch KPIs from your launch plan, cost savings measured in your finance systems, and event KPIs measured from your event and sales records. Each KPI has a baseline, a target, a date, the system it is measured in and a signed measurement method, all agreed before work starts.

How is outcome-based consulting different from a fixed fee?

With a fixed fee, the fee is set by the scope. In an outcome-linked mandate, part of strategy1's fee depends on whether agreed KPIs are met, as measured in your own systems. Every other strategy1 offer is fixed fee, and capital work always is.

Tie part of the fee to the result.

For launch, savings or event decisions, with the KPIs, their baselines and the way they are measured agreed and signed before work starts.
